Gold mandap arch with crimson velvet drapes, set for a wedding at the Banquet on Rash Behari Avenue

Weddings · South Kolkata

A wedding and marriage venue
in South Kolkata, with the price on the page.

Three floors on Rash Behari Avenue, for 150 to 700 guests. From ₹1,00,000.

Almost every wedding venue in Kolkata makes you ask for the price. The directories hold it behind an enquiry form, the numbers they do publish are years out of date, and by the time anyone gives you a real figure you have spent a fortnight on phone calls.

Ours are below. They are for the venue, they are current, and they are the same numbers we will say on the phone. If the Banquet is out of your range you will know in the next thirty seconds instead of next week — and if it is not, you will already know which floor you are asking about.

What these numbers are. The venue, including free parking, the air conditioning, the suites and the hospitality staff — the managed valet is chargeable and sits outside it. Your own caterer quotes the catering separately, per plate, once you have chosen the menu — so you see both numbers before you commit to either. Read the rooms in full on Signature Venues.

Beyond the Hall

The four things that go wrong

Cars, on a main road

Rash Behari Avenue is a main artery, and 300 guests arriving inside the same hour is how a wedding starts with an argument on the street. Free parking for up to 200 cars is included with every booking. A managed valet is available on top of that, at additional charge. Kalighat Metro is a short walk away, which is often the easier answer for relatives coming across the city.

Heat, in a room full of silk

A Kolkata wedding outside the winter months is a heat problem before it is anything else, and guests in heavy silk and jewellery are the first to feel it. The building runs on a 50-ton centralised air-conditioning system, sized for full halls rather than for the brochure.

Food that travelled to get here

Plenty of banquet halls rent you the room and then hand you a panel of caterers to choose from. Here the food is entirely yours to arrange: outside catering is not just allowed, it is the only arrangement — we do not provide catering, so you bring the caterer you want, and the vessels come from them. The booking runs a full 24 hours with our staff on site throughout, and there is an open rooftop where your caterer can cook and set up live counters.

Nowhere to sit down

Between the ceremony and the reception, the bride, the groom and both families need somewhere that is not the main hall. Private air-conditioned suites are available for exactly that. Smoking is confined to one designated area away from the halls, which is one fewer thing to police on the day.

Questions Families Ask

Before you call

Do you host marriage ceremonies, or only receptions?

Both, and on the same booking if you want them. The marriage ceremony itself, the bou bhaat reception the day after, aashirbaad — families here often hold the whole sequence in the building rather than moving between venues. The booking runs 24 hours, so a ceremony that starts at a dawn lagna and a reception that finishes late are the same booking, not two.

Will another wedding be happening at the same time?

Another function may be running in the building at the same time as yours — we have more than one space and they can run side by side. What a floor booking gives you is that floor: the hall, the dining area, the suites and the staff on it. If you want the building to yourself, the Grand Pavilion books all three floors plus the rooftop — say so when you enquire and we will tell you what your date allows.

What does the venue price include, and what does it not?

The figures above are for the venue itself, including free parking for 200 cars, the air conditioning, the suites and the hospitality staff. The managed valet is chargeable and sits outside the hire. Your own caterer quotes the catering separately, per plate, once you have chosen the menu — so you see both numbers before you commit to either.

Can the ceremony happen here too, or only the reception?

Both. The Grand Pavilion includes the mandap garden and the rooftop, so the ceremony and the reception can happen at one address on one day without moving your guests.

How many guests can your wedding venue hold?

From 150 to 700. The Ground Floor seats 150 to 200, the Heritage Floor 400 to 500, and the Grand Pavilion 600 to 700 across the full estate including the rooftop.

Are there rooms for the bride and groom to get ready?

Yes. Private air-conditioned suites are available for the bride, the groom and their families, separate from the main hall.

We are between two floors on guest count. Which do we take?

Tell us the number and we will be honest about which room will feel right — a hall that is two-thirds empty photographs worse than a smaller one that is full.

How far ahead should we book a wedding date?

Winter dates and the weeks around Durga Puja go first. Send us the date your family is holding and we will tell you straight away whether it is still free.

Where exactly are you?

77C Rash Behari Avenue, Manoharpukur, Kalighat — on the main road, a short walk from Kalighat Metro, and open 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM, all seven days.

Check your date.

Send us the date your family is holding and roughly how many are coming.
We will tell you whether it is free, and which floor to look at.
