Two numbers, not one
Booking an event here involves two separate figures, from two separate people, and it is worth separating them before you compare anything. The first is venue hire, and it is the only one we charge — the floor itself, with free parking, the air conditioning, the suites and the hospitality staff. Those are the numbers in the table above. The second is catering, which your own caterer bills you for directly, per plate, after you have chosen a menu, because a vegetarian lunch for 200 and a full non-vegetarian dinner for 600 are not the same conversation. Two things sit outside both: the managed valet, which is chargeable, and drinks, since any alcohol runs on a licence you arrange rather than a bar package we sell. You see the numbers before you commit to any of it.
Why other sites say ₹550
Because several wedding directories publish a per-plate catering estimate as though it were the price of the venue. It is not, and in some cases it has not been updated in years. If you have arrived here having read ₹550 or ₹699 somewhere else, that figure was never our venue rate in any form — it is a catering number, quoted out of context, on a page we do not control. We publish the real ones here so the comparison you are making is an honest one.
Which tier your event falls under
Weddings are quoted at the wedding tier. So is a bou bhaat — the reception the groom's family hosts afterwards is charged the same as the ceremony, which surprises most families, so it is better said here than discovered later. Birthdays, anniversaries, annaprashan and mukhe bhaat rice ceremonies, baby showers and most corporate days are quoted at the celebration tier. If your event sits somewhere between the two, ask rather than assume — we will tell you on the phone.
What the rate does not include
Décor beyond the room itself, and catering, are separate. Drinks are separate too, and structured differently here: alcohol can be served at your event, but you obtain the licence for it rather than buying a bar package from us. Factor that in when you set our figure beside a venue that sells drinks by the head, because those two quotes are not measuring the same thing. There is a designated smoking area on the premises.

How much does it cost to book a banquet hall at The Banquet, Kolkata?
Venue hire starts at ₹60,000 for a celebration on the Ground Floor (150–200 guests) and ₹1,00,000 for a wedding on the same floor. The Heritage Floor is ₹2,00,000 for celebrations and ₹3,00,000 for weddings (400–500 guests). The Grand Pavilion — the entire estate including the rooftop — is ₹3,00,000 for celebrations and ₹3,50,000 for weddings (600–700 guests). A corporate booking is ₹35,000 for a four-hour session up to 100 people, and an exhibition is ₹35,000 per day for 20 counters. All figures are plus GST. Your own caterer quotes the catering separately, per plate, after you choose the menu.
What is the cheapest way to book here?
The Ground Floor at the celebration rate — ₹60,000 for the venue, for 150 to 200 guests. Your own caterer bills you separately for the food, per plate, and you pay them directly.
Why is a reception charged as a wedding?
Because a bou bhaat is a wedding-scale event in everything but name — the same guest count, the same setup, the same day structure. It is quoted at the wedding tier. Families usually assume the opposite, so we say it early.
Is catering compulsory?
There is nothing compulsory about it, because we do not provide catering at all. Outside catering is not merely allowed here — it is the only arrangement there is. You arrange your own caterer and pay them directly, and the vessels come from them too, so catering never appears on our quote.
Do the figures include parking?
Parking is included — free, for up to 200 cars, and not charged separately. The managed valet is a separate service at additional charge, so ask for that figure with your date rather than assuming it is in the hire. Some listings elsewhere claim we have parking for ten cars, five, or none at all; all of that is wrong.
What do I pay upfront?
Fifty per cent to hold the date, and the remaining fifty per cent one month before the event. There is nothing else to pay the venue beyond that and the extras you choose — the valet, labour for exhibition load-in, a terrace hawan.
Are these prices negotiable, or seasonal?
Neither. The rates on this page do not change by season or by day of the week — a Saturday in wedding season costs the same as a Tuesday in July. Most venues in Kolkata price the other way, so it is worth asking anyone else you are considering what their December Saturday rate is. What we will not do is publish a low headline figure here and quote you something else on the phone.
What does a corporate event or an exhibition cost?
A corporate booking is ₹35,000 plus GST for up to 100 people, and that buys a four-hour session rather than a full day. An exhibition is ₹35,000 plus GST per day for 20 counters — most run two days or more, so a two-day exhibition is ₹70,000 plus GST, and a single day is still ₹35,000 with no minimum penalty. Both are quoted on the Ground Floor, which is where almost every exhibition here runs — it is at street level, so load-in does not go up a staircase.
How long do I get the venue for?
Twenty-four hours. The booking is a full day, not a four-hour slot, and our staff stay on site for the whole of it. That is why the 9 pm closing time you may see on Google is misleading — those are enquiry hours for days with no event. A dawn lagna, an all-night reception and a late exhibition breakdown are all normal here.
Do you serve alcohol?
Alcohol can be served where you arrange the appropriate licence — we do not hold one, and there is no bar package in the venue hire. Worth knowing before you compare our figure against a venue that sells drinks by the head.
