সাধ means desire. A sadh is the afternoon her family gives her the food she has been craving for months — cooked, by tradition, by her own mother or her mother-in-law, and eaten in front of everyone who loves her.
Other families in this city call the same day godh bharai, seemantham, valaikappu or shrimant. We host all of them, and the reason is the same in every case: the room is the easy part, the food is the difficult part, and we leave that where it belongs.
The food is the whole ceremony
Sadh means desire. The ritual is feeding her the things she has been craving for seven months, and everything else in the afternoon arranges itself around that. Which is why a venue that hands you a fixed menu and calls it done has misunderstood the day — the point is not that the food is good, it is that it is hers.
Her mother wants to cook. That is not our decision to take.
Tradition puts the cooking in the hands of her mother or her mother-in-law, and a lot of families quietly give that up because the venue hands them a panel of caterers and a fixed menu. That is not how this works. We do not provide catering at all — so who makes the sadh food is entirely your family's choice, and the dishes that matter can come from the person tradition says should make them.
She is seven or eight months pregnant
This is the part most venue pages skip. She will be on her feet for photographs, greeting people who have travelled across the city, in a Kolkata afternoon. The building runs on 50-ton centralised air conditioning, and there are private air-conditioned rooms away from the main hall when she needs to sit down. Smoking is confined to one designated area away from the halls and the dining space, so she is not walking through it. Parking is free and takes 200 cars on Rash Behari Avenue itself, so nobody is walking far from the road, and a managed valet is available at additional charge.
Take the smaller room
We will say this even though it is the smaller booking: for a sadh, take the Ground Floor. It is at street level and it holds 150 to 200. A room that is comfortably full photographs better and feels warmer than a large hall two-thirds empty, and at this stage of a pregnancy the shorter walk is the kinder answer.
On price. It depends on the floor and the date. Catering is quoted separately by your own caterer, once the family has decided what it is cooking and what the caterer is — so there is no single number worth printing here. Message us with the date and roughly how many are coming and you will have real figures in the same conversation, not after a form.

Can we choose who cooks the sadh food?
Entirely. We do not provide catering, and we do not put you on a panel — the food is your family's arrangement from start to finish, with the vessels coming from your caterer. Tell us what you are planning and we will work around it.
Which floor do you recommend?
The Ground Floor for almost every sadh — 150 to 200 guests, at street level, the whole floor yours. The larger floors are there if your list genuinely needs them.
What month is a sadh usually held?
Bengali families usually keep to an odd month — the fifth, seventh or ninth. Your family will have its own custom. Send us the date you are holding and we will tell you if it is free.
Do you host godh bharai, seemantham or valaikappu too?
Yes. Sadh is the Bengali form of the same ceremony other families know by those names. The room and the staff do not mind what you call the day.
Is the venue comfortable for someone in late pregnancy?
The building runs on 50-ton centralised air conditioning, which is what matters most in a Kolkata summer, and there are private air-conditioned rooms away from the main hall if she needs to sit down. What does it cost?
