Plenty of banquet halls will rent you a room and then tell you who may cook in it. That is where mukhe bhaat goes wrong — a panel caterer who has never made your family's payesh, and a menu picked off somebody else's list.
We do not run a catering service, so that choice stays with you: bring the cook or the caterer your family already trusts. The booking runs a full 24 hours with our staff on site throughout, which gives them room to work properly rather than race a curfew. For a ceremony where the food is the ritual, that is not a small detail.
The morning slot
Rice ceremonies follow the time your purohit sets, and that is usually morning. We open at nine, seven days a week. Mornings are also the quietest for the grandparents and elderly relatives who will travel furthest for this — and with Kalighat Metro a short walk away, many of them will not need a car at all.
The food
The menu is yours to set with your own caterer — payesh included, and the rest built by you rather than handed to you. We do not provide catering, so nothing is chosen off someone else's list, and if your family has a dish that belongs at this ceremony it is on the table because you said so. The vessels come from the caterer.
What the room gives you
Fully air-conditioned throughout, with a stage for the ceremony and a separate dining area so the meal does not spill into the ritual. Private air-conditioned rooms are available for feeding and changing the baby. Smoking is confined to one designated area away from the halls — which, with an infant and a room full of relatives, is the kind of thing you should not have to police yourself.
On price. You may have seen figures for us on wedding directories that are years out of date. The venue starts at ₹60,000 for the Ground Floor. Your own caterer quotes the catering separately, per plate, once you have chosen the menu — so you know both figures before you commit to either.

Do you host annaprashan and mukhe bhaat ceremonies?
Yes. The Ground Floor suits an annaprashan (mukhe bhaat) for 150 to 200 guests — the whole floor yours, air-conditioned, at street level, with its own dining area. Venue hire starts at ₹60,000, and your own caterer bills the food separately.
What time of day is best for a rice ceremony?
Most families follow the time their purohit sets, which is usually the morning — and mornings are easiest for elderly relatives anyway. The booking runs 24 hours with our staff on site throughout, so an early start is normal here. The 9 AM to 9 PM on our Google profile is when you can reach us to enquire, not a limit on your ceremony.
Do you cook the menu yourselves, or do we arrange a caterer?
You arrange the caterer. We do not provide catering, and the vessels come from them as well — which leaves you free to use the cook your family already trusts for a first-rice ceremony.
How far in advance should we book?
Four to six weeks is comfortable. Winter and the weeks around Durga Puja fill fastest — call earlier if your date falls then.
Can we hold a smaller ceremony, under 150 guests?
Yes. The Ground Floor works down to a much smaller gathering — tell us your number and we will be honest about whether the room will feel right.
Is there somewhere to feed and change the baby?
Yes — private air-conditioned rooms, away from the main hall.
Is there parking for our guests?
Yes — free parking for up to 200 cars, included with the booking and not charged separately. A managed valet is available at additional charge. Kalighat Metro is a short walk away, which matters when elderly relatives are travelling across the city.
